The City of Los Angeles declares the El Capitan Entertainment Centre (now owned
by Disney) to be an historic landmark. The El Capitan Theatre debuted on May 3,
1926, as "Hollywood's First Home of Spoken Drama."

Walt delivers the first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon, Poor Papa, to Charles
Mintz in New York. The reviewers are unimpressed, complaining that the rabbit is
old, sloppy, and fat.

Disneyland's America Sings closes in Tomorrowland. The 24-minute production
included more than 100 characters and had been in operation since June 1974.
